THE LEGAL TEAMS
Vivien Mavropoulos undertook Liam Magill’s landmark case in October 2000, after Liam was turned away by all of the major law firms of Melbourne, Victoria.
Since the legal proceedings commenced, Vivien, her small staff, Liam and his partner Cheryl King, have worked incredibly long hours on this case. Cheryl and Liam have made many personal sacrifices to fund this case including the sale of nearly all of their assets.
Vivien has been a tower of strength in what has been a real life “The Castle” type court case.
Liam, a victim of paternity fraud, has had to pay nearly all his own legal fees with the exception of a few small donations.
Liam's ex-wife, the defendant, has been funded exclusively by women's groups and legal aid.
She's on her 3rd legal team in 3 years. Her lawyers:
Maurice Blackburn Cashman;
Victorian Women's Legal Service and;
Clayton Utz is her current lawyer:
